Studying in the UK in the UK Key Points: List of special materials for application
Editor’s comment: If you want to study abroad, you should consider the application steps and precautions. Today, the editor has sorted out the application for studying in the UK for you. What are the special materials? Let’s take a look below!
1. Changes in British school admissions in 2022
University of Bristol
When it comes to the University of Bristol, what everyone wants to know most should be the engineering courses at the University of Bristol.
Engineering at the University of Bristol, especially computer science, has increased admission requirements a lot this year. For example, Anhui University, if you want to apply for a major in computer science, requires a GPA of 90+; Beijing University of Chemical Technology requires a GPA of 88+; China Agricultural University requires a GPA of 85+, and Hainan University requires 90+ although it is 211.
There are too many schools to list. If you want to know whether your undergraduate college is on the list and want to know the corresponding admission requirements, you can leave a message at the bottom of the official account to ask questions.
York University, tell you about its management school admission requirements. Students from 211 colleges and universities have a GPA of at least 80 points, and students from dual-non-college colleges need a GPA of at least 85 points to submit applications.
In addition, for the Tesol major at York University, it is recommended that applicants have a GPA of at least 80 points.
The above are the places where the admission requirements in the UK have changed in 2018. These institutions are also the institutions that people apply for more. If students want to know whether other colleges have raised their admission requirements, please leave a message to ask questions!
2. Apply for special materials
The paper materials for studying in the UK will depend on the school and major you choose. The application materials are differentiated, and some majors even require special materials. Next, I will introduce the special materials of several schools that are commonly applied.
University of Warwick
For general college applications, PS requires about 800 to 1000 words. The PS of the University of Warwick requires about 500 words and 4,600 characters, including the space bar.
The Full-Time MBA program at the University of Warwick generally requires a GMAT score of 650 or more or an equivalent GRE score.
The following majors do not require GMAT or GRE scores, but if students can provide a 700-point GMAT or an equivalent GRE score, the application success rate will be improved. For Example Accounting, Finance, Business, Marketing, and Management-related majors.
University of Edinburgh
To apply to the University of Edinburgh, the recommendation letter must have the handwritten signature of the recommender, and the date needs to be the date of the past six months, which can be handwritten or typed.
The business PS of the University of Edinburgh also requires no more than 500 words. Secondly, AIU Business School requires an IELTS transcript when applying, which can be IELTS that does not meet the admission requirements, but must provide an IELTS score, otherwise, the school will not accept it.
For the Tesol and Education majors of Ai University, applications without IELTS can be accepted first, but the school needs to be informed when the IELTS will be taken.
When applying for economics, you need to submit an IELTS score and provide a course description.
For film director majors, it is best to submit a portfolio when applying. For online upload, the file size should not be larger than 2M; if it exceeds 2M, the school also accepts web links.
University of Exeter
If you apply for the following 5 majors in Exeter, and you are in your senior year when you apply, you must submit a list of courses for your senior year, otherwise, the school will not accept it.
Accounting and Finance; Finance and Investment; Finance and Management; Financial Economics; Finance.
University of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham emphasizes the Human Resource Management major here. Regarding human resources, the school offers two majors, one in the School of Business and the other in the School of Government and Society.
If you apply for the MSc Development Management major in Government and Society, please be sure to state your interest in HRM in the PS. Otherwise, the school will directly reject the letter, which is very serious.
Cardiff’s Urban Design major, you must provide IELTS and a portfolio when applying, otherwise, the application will be put on hold until you receive your qualified IELTS score. The overall IELTS score is 6.5, with no sub-score below 5.5.
Regarding the part of special materials, today I will briefly introduce a few colleges and universities that everyone often consults. Many schools have special requirements for applicants.
If you don’t pay attention to these problems when applying, or you get a rejection letter because of a small mistake, it is very worthwhile, and this is why students are not recommended to DIY.
3. Is the IELTS score important when applying?
Many students want to know whether they need to submit IELTS during the application process when applying for British institutions. If not, can they submit their applications first, and will it affect the application?
In fact, except for a few schools that specifically state that they need to submit IELTS scores, most institutions in the UK support applications without IELTS. What are the specific IELTS requirements?
Engineering majors generally require IELTS 6.5 with a subscore of 5.5-6.0. Most of the engineering majors at the University of Birmingham require IELTS 6.0 (it is simply the gospel of engineering students, there is wood!).
Therefore, for engineering students, not submitting IELTS when applying will not have much impact on the application results.
Humanities and Social Sciences
The IELTS requirements for humanities and social sciences have a wide range, and most require a total score of 6.5 and a small score of 6. Law, English, psychology, and other majors have relatively high requirements, generally requiring a total score of 7 points or even 7.5 points.
Tips: If the total score is lower than the required 1 point, and the small score is lower than the required 1.5 points, it is not recommended to submit IELTS when applying. Because the school will think that it is not possible to raise the IELTS to the admission standard before you are admitted.
Business IELTS requires a relatively large span. The general standard is also 6.5 points in total and 6 points in small points. However, there are not a few people who require 7 points or even 7.5 points. The requirements for small points are varied, depending on the school and major you choose.
The application of art majors does not have very high language requirements, mainly to look at the portfolio, so the absence of IELTS when applying will not have much impact on the application results.
With the increasing number of students going to the UK to study, the school has not only increased the tuition fees, but also the admission standards. And when we choose the school, the school also chooses us.
So if you want to go to a good school, you must be well prepared. In the UK, applications are open one year in advance. For example, for the admission season in September 2018, applications were already open in mid-August this year, which also means that many students now have at least one offer in their hands, so those who have not yet applied can ask for Hurry up, the Christmas holiday is just around the corner. During the holiday, the school can take a vacation with peace of mind and will not process applications. If you want to get the offer early, don’t hesitate, it is still too late to send the application! May you get the offer of your dream school as soon as possible!
Hope the above information is helpful to you!
